We need a strong, unified organization to assemble the pieces of the puzzle that REVEAL the treasures of the Historic Northeast community.
This project seeks to prepare a governance structure and administrative model for an organization that can secure resources to implement a unified, comprehensive community development program. We are also aiming to complete a strategic plan for the inaugural years of the new Northeast community development organization.
The Take Charge II project is a continuation of the Community Capital Fund supported Take Charge I project that created a strategic plan for the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and its Historic Northeast community development organization. Take Charge II takes the next crucial steps in the rejuvenation of the area by developing a civic leadership program and preparing for the management of the new Independence Avenue Community Improvement District (CID).
Soccer for Success is the US Soccer Foundation free after school program that uses soccer as a tool to address children's health issues and juvenile delinquency while promoting healthy lifestyles in urban underserved communities. We are currently at three elementary schools in the Northeast community. We work with students in grades kindergarten through 3rd grade at this time. We are in the process of expanding our number of students within the next year.
